How do you answer, “What do you do?”

When someone asks me, “what do you do?” I could answer, “I am a graphic designer.” You want to keep it short, but no job title sums up your work. Rethink how you respond. Make the most of every opportunity by sharing how you help your customers instead. Leading with customer benefits will help the person in front of you think of someone who could benefit from your services.

Here are some examples:

Title: Graphic Designer

Useful: I help very busy business owners implement marketing plans to keep their business in front of their customers.

Title: Financial Planner

Useful: I help business professionals plan their savings so they can do what they want in retirement.

Title: Handyman

Useful: I help homeowners change their living space into the one they always wanted.
