Did you receive an email suggesting you should “start using Google Maps and Search to keep your Business Profile up to date and connect with customers?”
What’s in a name?
Don’t worry; Google has done this before: Businesses have worked with “Google Local Business Center,” “Google Places,” “Google+ Local,” and “Google My Business.” People who manage more than one business or location will now use the “Google Business Profile Manager.”
Things just got easier for most of us who manage only one business. As long as you are logged into your Google account, search for your business on Google search or Google maps. Your listing will have a link to edit and update with changes or additions. (If you haven’t “claimed” your business see below.***)
Updating your Google listing is worth your while.
Take the time to review it; keeping your Google listing fresh and updated is an essential marketing tool. The listing is free; however, it is your responsibility to create and maintain your listing.

Why claim your business?
*** Your business may appear on Google even if you haven’t claimed or created your listing, and the information may be incomplete, incorrect, or have little appeal to potential customers. Claim your business so that someone else doesn’t claim it or tell Google it is closed. Need help, give Kerri a call.
How can you tell? Search for your business in Google search or Google maps. Look at the listing closely; if you see a link to “Claim this business” or “Own this business?” your listing may be underutilized and at risk. Google accounts are free, and you don’t have to use the email for any other purpose.
